Bringing my Friends to Fayetteville

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. I certainly did! I want to share about my weekend in this blog and highlight some artists, restaurants, and cool places that you might can take tips on and I hope you enjoy the pictures! I also am going to share at the end what I learned from this weekend and I think it will encourage you.

I don’t want this blog post to sound like I’m writing in my diary or journal – I want you to like it, enjoy it, take tips from it, and be encouraged! I wouldn’t and won’t write a blog to brag at my own experiences. I want my readers (you) to feel like you have been encouraged and can take something positive away from my posts. I want to share some of my experiences and what I learn from them only to encourage you and shed some light into your days! If you would like to skip the middle part and go straight to what I learned from this weekend, look for the end paragraph in red!

My friends Kaitlin and Peyton came in for the weekend for the Ben Rector concert and to hang out in Fayetteville!

I first picked them up and took them to Whole Foods (newly opened in Fayetteville) to get some quick dinner and check out the best grocery store ever! And Kaitlin surprised me with two gifts: a stuffed bear and a Project 41 necklace that I have been meaning to buy! Meant SO much to me. She also wrote me such a sweet letter. I am so thankful for her. (btw: go check out that link and donate to a local non-profit organization who is making efforts to stop human trafficking and sexual exploitation in Ouachita Parish area)

The concert was held in the Town Center on Friday and Kaitlin and I enjoyed the awesome view of the mountains and sunset:

Just look at that view! I love Fayetteville so much! Most beautiful place I’ve lived.

We also took a video and made it on the Arkansas campus story! (big deal to me)

The concert was opened by Marc Scibilia who actually has some cool music, so check him out on iTunes or Spotify. Follow him on Instagram, he has really cool hair and a great voice!

Then an hour and a half later, Ben Rector appeared!!! We were so close to the stage and it was so awesome and so worth it. He sounds just as good live as he does on the radio. He and his band are so talented and put on such a great show!

My favorite part was when we ALL called the hogs! Ben went to the U of A in college and he asked us all to call the hogs (I’d been waiting for that all night). Best moment of the night! We’re also seen on Ben Rector’s Instagram in the sea of people behind him!

I personally melted in this moment ^

After the concert, I took them to Andy’s for amazing frozen custard.

The next day Kaitlin and I ate at Arsaga’s at the Depot for such an amazing brunch. The wait wasn’t too bad for a busy Saturday. I think we waited 20 minutes and during that wait we enjoyed coffee and tea.

I took this awesome picture of Kaitlin while we were there. My best friend is flawless.

We had a really great waitress who was super cool and down to earth. She saved me from a parking ticket, in fact. I wish I could remember her name but everyone at this place is wonderful and they show love to their customers, even when it’s busy! (which is hard to do)

I enjoyed the Brzezinski (honestly not positive that’s how you spell that) – but MAN, would you look at that. It was SO GOOD. Great hearty breakfast ready to take a hike in:

Pictured above (what’s in the Brzezinski): apples, blueberries, strawberries, tomatoes, potatoes, bacon, toast, eggs, and awesome sauce (don’t actually know what it is called but it is good)

Kaitlin and I both REALLY enjoyed our food. It’s a great place for anyone visiting Fayetteville. Everyone who lives here knows how great it is!

Next, KK and I shopped downtown in such beautiful Saturday Fayetteville weather. I got a steal deal from the Mustache and bought a hogs sweatshirt for 15 bucks. Kaitlin fell in love with Fayetteville and the downtown area.

After KK and I got our shopping done, we all 3 went hiking at Devil’s Den State Park and I got to show them one of my favorite trails here! It was a beautiful day for a hike. Not too cold and not too hot. Lots of other people had the same idea! It was packed but super cool that Jesus appreciates the little things and I stumbled right upon someone who was pulling out and I got a parking spot in no time!

Shoutout to Peyton for all the pics of KK and me.

After hiking, we went to Wood Stone Craft Pizza and enjoyed delicious pizza. After that we got ice cream at Chunky Dunk, a local ice cream truck with an adorable pup to entertain you. Then I gave them a tour of the best campus in America (okay I am totally biased) and showed them what I experience every day!

What I learned from this weekend: Honestly, I can enjoy all these things on my own because I know that I’m enjoying them with the Lord, but it is so much more awesome and special when you can enjoy it with loved ones who appreciate it as much as you and who appreciate you. I mean we have all been there when you’re with people who bring you down and you think “man, I would enjoy this better without them.” Which is 100% true. The experiences are nothing without the people in them. Even if it’s just the experience, you, and God, that’s blissful. When it’s the experience, you, appreciative people, and God, that makes it more special. Community is so important. No one likes to be in such a cool moment but with someone who has something negative to say about it or who doesn’t appreciate that you appreciate the moment. But when you can be with people who say, “Wow, this is amazing, I’m so glad I’m experiencing this with you” man, that’s a special thing.

Thank you all for checking out my blog today, I hope you enjoy it and you are encouraged by it. I hope your Sunday has been fantastic and that you have spent it with people you love, if you can. If not, make sure you tell someone today that you love them. Often times we can forget how important that is.

xx, Claire
