Reflecting on the Little Things

Happy Monday everyone 🙂 I apologize for being a day late on my reflection post – I have no excuse other than I completely forgot, even though it was on my to-do list! I am such a forgetful person, that is for sure true about me and I live through it. Haha I had a great week last week. Started a little emotionally/mentally unwell which turned into physical sickness..boooo. It’s just a little cold..sore throat, runny nose, and achy feelings. I feel better today, though, just stuck with a cough. But it was great because I didn’t get too sick to not do everything I set out to do!

Isn’t that the only thing we are concerned with when we get sick? Is not being able to accomplish our to-do list? That’s our culture today…we MUST get the list DONE or we will be behind and we can’t afford to be behind. We must be going, going, going…

But we must also breathe. Take a break. That should be in our to-do list. I’ve started to take a full day to do that. I’ll go hard 6 out of the 7 days of the week if I get that one day to rest. We need it to be truly be effective.

This past week, I attended a wedding of some friends of mine – Hunter and Tierney MAYS. These two truly reflect Christ’s love for us all! That’s what a marriage is anyway..a reflection of Christ’s love for the church. I’m such a softie when it comes to weddings. I cry when the bride walks down the aisle and I cry when the bride dances with her dad. I know I’ll be a wreck (in the best way) on my wedding day. It was encouraging to be around so many couples who truly love God and each other.

I also bought candles at Bath & Body Works.. as my picture shows. I bought two for me, and I LOVE the smell of these two. I definitely buy candles first for their aesthetic and second for their scent. I don’t buy a candle that looks ugly. It’s literally only there to look cute and to make your house/room smell good. Right?! I also bought my first Christmas candle of the year! Woohoo. I bought the “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” scented candle. Mmmmm, delicious. They had a 3 for $35 deal so I did that.

I also attended a DENIM birthday part for one of my besties, Cassidy. She loves denim and actually planned this “surprise” party for herself. She’s so funny and everyone who meets her loves her.

Songs I listened to:

Hippo Campus’s Monsoon and Warm Glow – they have sweet vibes

Reputation by Mothica & Icarus Moth – quite a funny song to me right now (lyrics-wise) and has a fun beat. I feel like it’s definitely more of a woman’s song.

& I’ve fallen back in love with Khalid’s album, American Teen. I listened to this for the first time in April and it just reminds me of good times in the summer.

Foods I tried:

Sunday evening I went to my friend Cassidy’s house to study with her and for dinner we went to Neighborhood Walmart (come on, how many of you are thankful for Neighborhood Walmarts?) and bought zucchini and we cooked that over the stove with angel hair pasta and parmesan cheese. It was truly delicious. & so SIMPLE and CHEAP! Y’all, eating healthy doesn’t have to be expensive. I love that I love more foods now. I used to hate pasta and veggies. Now I love it. & I love cooking now. It makes me SO happy.

I also went to Whole Foods and tried their samples (don’t judge, we all do this) and I really loved their yellow apples, they were so juicy and sweet and their home made guacamole! I truly think that a GREAT marketing strategy because I’ve been craving it since and will probably go back and purchase those.

I hope that you all have a WONDERFUL week ahead of you. I have two exams this week (crying) but Thanksgiving is next week and I can’t wait to see my family!!!

xx, Claire
