Reflecting on the Little Things – My Sphere

Hello everyone! Happy Sunday.

It has been quite a week for me. I feel like every week is full of ups and downs. That’s just how life is! I had my last week of classes before finals (this week) and had Christmas parties galore! MY FAVE TIME OF YEAR.

On Tuesday, I received my brand NEW CLEAN FRESH pair of Adidas. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. They fit my foot so well and I wore them around the house I loved them so much! Get them here for 30% off until the 11th (tomorrow) with code FRIENDS

Wednesday I took a day for ME and it was AMAZING. Honestly it was one of the best days I’ve had in a while. I drove up to Rogers to go to the Home Goods/Marshall’s and I just had a time. I bought cute things and Christmas gifts and I got my fave, 7 Brew coffee. I also went to their big Walmart while I was in town and they have a DUNKIN DONUTS inside – what the heck?! Time for me to move to Rogers. Haha, just kidding.

(but not really, I might)

Wednesday night, we had our last life group of the semester so I made my girlies those AWESOME Christmas cookies and we drank hot cocoa and watched Elf! It was magical.

Thursday I spent my entire afternoon/evening finishing up my final project in my flat pattern class. I created a mascot for one of our mascots, Sue E (sooie). They wanted occupational costumes, so I made nurse’s scrubs!

Blood, sweat, and tears people.

Friday was Dead Day and it was filled with NO STUDYING! It was AMAZING! I went to TJMaxx with my bestie roomie Kristen and bought these HUARACHES for only $50!! Basically a steal.

I also attended 2 Christmas parties on Friday. One at my house, where we played dirty Santa and SPOONS. Two rounds – I won the first and came in second on the second round. I get so competitive in it haha.

My second Christmas party was our NLC Fayetteville student leadership Christmas party! We also played dirty Santa and it was so much fun to hang out with MY people. I love NWA so much and love that it has become my turf. I am so blessed to be in the ministry I am and under the leadership that I am. NLC Fayetteville is my home.

Songs I listened to:

Well currently I am listening to Christmas trap music so that’s what it’s been like LOL. Please go look it up – it saved my life. Christmas Trap by Trap City. You’ll either love it or hate it. I also listened to Frank Ocean’s Channel ORANGE album.

I honestly listened to a lot of Hillsong music because I need it. Like I need the background song of my life to be reminding me of God’s goodness and faithfulness. There are SO many negative thoughts that can enter/have entered my mind but these songs combat that and protect me. I’m done playing around. I want my spirit to be sharpened. It feels almost like a fast or rehab because it can get old but I just put it on because it always brings me to where I need to be – Jesus’s feet!

This week I’ve really realized that the music I listen to makes a big impact on the way I think about my life. I’ve also “manned up” and cut some things out of my life that I just needed to do to stay cautious and protect myself and my spirituality. I am focusing more on who is AROUND ME, not who is far from me. I’m focusing on MY sphere of influence, not someone else’s. I’m focusing on what God has for me in Fayetteville, Arkansas, as a 20-year-old junior in college who leads at NLC and works for her blog and a boutique. Literally nothing else matters. I’m just done letting discouraging thoughts sit and marinate in my mind.

THIS is the BEST time of my life yet! Yes! The past BEHIND, God’s future AHEAD!

Create me new, Lord.

I’m gonna go make dinner now.

xx, Claire
