Reflecting on the Little Things

Hellooooo happy people! Welcome back to my blog – I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve been on here but it’s only been since Tuesday haha. Last week, I did not post a “Reflecting on the Little Things” and I apologize but I really had nothing to say because I was sick ALL WEEK. It was not fun. Now I’m just stuck with a gross cough. The kind your classmates hate you for.

I just want to say first off that I am SO THANKFUL to be alive and well! Gosh, being sick is the WORST. You don’t get to talk to people, people don’t wanna come near you because you’re sick, you can’t get any work done, and it’s just a setback! No one has time to be sick. “Ain’t nobody got time for that.” I missed by first exam of the semester and will have to make it up the day of the final. So that’s something I’ll have to deal with literally for the whole semester. I am just so happy that I can dress up and go out and shop and be with friends and have a great time.

Yesterday, I started listening to my Discover Weekly from my Spotify and the songs were ON POINT. Last time I listened, I wasn’t really grooving with the songs and Spotify missed the mark. But THIS TIME, it was SO GOOD that I have to share it with y’all and you have to listen! I started sending the songs to my friend, then was just like “Ok here’s the link to the whole playlist – listen to it” Here it is:

Something sad happened this weekend, my family was supposed to come visit me and I have been looking forward to it since I left Louisiana (like for real been looking forward to it) and my little sis got sick on Friday with flu symptoms (not the flu) and they couldn’t come! I was seriously so upset. I miss them so much and was looking forward to a restful weekend with them! However, my friends cheered me up and hung out with me the whole weekend! We used the hotel and had a sleepover and free breakfast, and we went to the basketball game together. It was so much fun!

I was so happy that they wanted to spend the weekend with me! You know you have good friends when they are ready to console you when bad things happen!

I have been eating a lot of Chipotle and Con Quesos this week, haha. I haven’t cooked after being sick until tonight and I cooked this salmon dish that’s actually not that great. I LOVE getting the tacos at Chipotle, with barbacoa meat, queso, mild salsa, and guacamole. Every time. SO STINKIN’ GOOD. Now I’m craving it again haha. And at Con Quesos, I normally get the number one taco (don’t remember what it’s called) but it comes with chicken and rice and beans and I get the Costa Rica queso.

This morning at church was SO GOOD! As always. We started our “Edit” series, where the idea behind it is that God edit’s our lives in a way to make us righteous, regardless of mistakes. So we talked about living a guilt-free life this morning and what guilt does in our lives. We studied the subject of King David when he committed adultery and murder all in one. Murder to mask the guilt. He wrote Psalm 51 in guilt and it shows us what guilt can do in your life and we learned what we could do to turn that around. To listen to the sermon, it should be up soon this week under “New Life Church Fayetteville” in podcasts.

One verse that He read that I love in particular is 2 Corinthians 4:2 – The Message Translation.

“We refuse to wear masks and play games. We don’t maneuver and manipulate behind the scenes. Rather, we keep everything we do and say out in the open, the whole truth on display, so that those who want to can see and judge for themselves in the presence of God.”

That is so stinkin’ good! I want my life to be lived this way.

If we want transformation, we must live transparently. God’s light shines through transparency. With God, with people.

Here’s just some extra photos from the weekend.
